WILLIAMSBURG QUEEN ANNE WITH MIRROR
25 x 50"
The flamboyant Williamsburg Queen Anne with Shell gilded looking glass demonstrates late Baroque, English styling from around 1720-1740. The gessoed repouss decoration and crests with rosettes serve as a testament to the carvers skill. Looking glasses with sconce arms holding candles were used as a way to amplify reflected light in times before electricity. CARVERS’ GUILD licensee to COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG.
